There are a handful of common ways that misinformation tends to appear on social media. One of these ways is scapegoating.

A post that contains scapegoating makes a statement that blames an individual or group for a wide array of problems, often without sufficient evidence. It diverts attention from more complex issues or the true sources of a problem by assigning blame to a convenient target.
